Step 1: Consultation
You only get 7 seconds to make a first impression, so why risk it? A gentleman’s clothing is a direct reflection of so many crucial aspects of his business and personal life. At Gentleman’s Cooperative we help you to define that by taking the time to understand what you do, who you see, and how you like to get things done. Our clients are our driving force, so it’s crucial for us to learn about certain difficulties or preferences you have with your clothing. Consultations aren’t sales pitches…they’re consultations. Our goal is to gather as much information as necessary so we can better advise you on a certain fit or styling details, to maximize your first impression, while minimizing the impact on your wallet. including the fabric, the fit, and the details like pic stitching or a roped shoulder.
Selection: Life is all about choices. We offer hundreds of wool, silk, cashmere, linen, cotton, and bamboo fabrics from some of the world’s finest mills; Ermenegildo Zegna, Loro Piana, Vitale Berberis, and many more. Once you select your fabrics, the styling details are only limited to your imagination…and the beautiful thing is that options like pic stitching, contrasting buttonhole thread color, functioning buttonholes, ticket pockets, bemberg linings, and even monograming, are all inclusive.
Measurements: Each and every garment is custom designed and tailored to your exact specifications. We take 25 different measurements, which our tailors then turn into a one-of-a-kind paper pattern that we keep on file to make reordering a breeze.
For your first consultation, we strongly encourage you to bring your favorite fitting dress shirt, pant and jacket, so we can get a better understanding of what you like and don’t like in regards to the fit of your clothing. Don’t worry if you don’t have a favorite fitting garment, we have sizers to try on, but please be sure to avoid wearing shorts or a t-shirt when having measurements taken.
Step 2: Fitting
Once our tailors have finished crafting your garments, you’ll have your first fitting. If there are necessary alterations we will update your pattern on file, that way when future orders are placed the garments come in spot on. This makes reordering a breeze, and even allows you to order custom garments online and have them shipped directly to you.
Gentleman’s Cooperative sources suit fabric from many of the world’s foremost mills, including Ermenegildo Zegna, Loro Piana, Guabello, and Vitale Barberis. As the seasons change so do our fabrics, but you can always count on hundreds of the finest shirt and suit options to choose from.
Your Choice of Suit make:
Half-Canvas- This make uses a sewn in horsehair canvas piece in the chest and lapel of the jacket, and is fused on the bottom part of the jacket. This allows you to have the canvas at the most important of the suit, and keeps the price down by having less handwork.
Full-Canvas- This make does not use fusing at all, so a full horsehair canvas is used. A full-canvas allows a suit to drape properly and will mold to your body over time, for a perfect fit. It aids in the longevity of a suit by distributing tension at stress points (shoulders and elbows) and allows the suit to “breathe” better.
Bespoke- In the suit world, bespoke is the pinnacle. Each garment is entirely handmade and is truly a one-of-a-kind piece of art. The lapels alone have over 1,000 hand-stitches and are entirely hand rolled. No garment could ever fit or drape better. It’s rare to find a tailor with this level of creativity and skill, but if you treat yourself to nothing but the best, then bespoke suiting is for you.
